Gathering is the second step of the Frontier Field Guide. Face a tree or a rock and click to swing, or press F to gather fiber plants. The official site also names chopping, mining, fishing, and rare plants. This page keeps to the actions checked in the client.

What the checklist says

“Face a tree or rock and click to swing. Press F to gather fiber plants.”

Client Help adds that left click gathers from trees, rocks, and fiber plants, and that holding the button keeps gathering. F is also the key Help uses for a nearby station, door, or chest. The same key, different target.

The official Gather line is wider: chop trees, mine ore, fish in the shallows, and harvest rare plants. Fishing and ore tiers are not written up here.

Where the materials go

The pack can filter Materials, Gear, and Buildables. The next Field Guide step is Crafting: turn one raw resource into a refined material. After that, Building can spend materials on a campfire or a workbench.
